The style and music of 85 REWIND is heavily inspired by 80s-pop-culture and memories from our youth. As our songs would serve quite well as series- or movie soundtracks – we created some tributes to our favourites ourselves. So grab some pop-corn and enjoy!

Nowadays it is easy to follow a series right from the beginning, back in the 1980s you had to jump in to whatever season or episode was just on TV. Here are the origin stories from the pilot episodes of some of the most memorable 80s TV series:

‘Miami Vice’ had a major impact on the television industry, American culture or men’s clothing style during the 80s.

Join us on a trip down memory lane alongside Don Johnson, Philip Michael Thomas, John Diehl, Olivia Brown, Edward James Olmos and guest stars such as Bruce Willis. Michael Mann and Anthony Yerkovich brought this series to life, while the soundtrack of Jan Hammer made it an immortal piece of art.

No matter how cool you are, you will never be ‘Magnum P.I. driving a Ferrari around Hawaii’ cool.

Remember how it all started with our tribute to the pilot episode of Magnum P.I. from 1980 and feel the great chemistry between Tom Selleck and John Hillerman once more:

Magnum: “I’m not an intruder, I’m a guest!”

Higgins: “Guests eventually leave.”

For all the ones who have been watching Knight Rider on linear TV and never knew how the series all started, revisit the pilot episodes with us and witness how Michael Knight and the “Knight Industries Two Thousand” (aka K.I.T.T) joined forces to make the world a better place:

“Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist. Michael Knight, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the powerless, the helpless in a world of criminals who operate above the law.”

KITT: “Michael are you sure you want to do that? Don’t touch turbo boost – something tells me you shouldn’t turbo boost!”

Enjoy the highlights of the pilot episode of Baywatch from 1989.

This was way before Pamela Anderson joined the cast, then focussing on the romance between junior lifeguards Shauni McClain (Erika Eleniak) and Eddie Kramer (Billy Warlock),  Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff) taking over a desk-job leaving the beach mostly behind while struggling with his divorce, Craig Pomeroy (Parker Stevenson) somewhat enjoying, but rather avoiding the gratefulness of the girl he rescued.

Hasn’t everybody experienced the passion once in his life to open a bar? In many cases this was influenced by this Tom Cruise movie.

“Days get shorter and shorter, nights longer and longer, before you know it, your life is just one long night with a few comatose daylight hours.” Tom Cruise aka Brian Flanagan

Revisit some of the best moments of the 1988 classic: ‘Cocktail’, alongside the very 1st song we produced for our 2022 debut album ‘Magic Hour’

Not just 80s music in the form in Synthwave had a comeback, also recent movies and series are built on top of legacy from that decade.

Top Gun Maverick, the long awaited sequel to Top Gun had finally been released in 2022. Of course we had to pay tribute to the original.

Top Gun didn’t just show us a great romance, but also took us on an emotional rollercoaster ride around the bromance between Maverick and Goose.

Cobra Kai fueled our memories for Karate Kid and the greatest decade so far: The 80s!

See Karate Kid from the perspective that Barney Stinson (How I met your mother) claimed to be the correct one: Through the eyes of of his hero: Johnny Lawrence.

With new technology on the rise such as robotics or artificial intelligence in the form of ChatGPT, the future may of course become a dystopia as showcased in Terminator. But even Blackmirror once showed us one version that could look actually quite bright.

San Junipero introduced us to some sort of nostalgic meta verse. ‘I want to die young, as late as it can be’. Black Mirror took this intention on a whole new level in the episode ‘San Junipero’ of Season 3, check it out on Netflix.

While the final season of Stranger Things will still take quite a while until arrival, let’s look back at some happy days with fan-favourite Eddie.

‘Stranger Things 4’ just kicked off with an amazing first episode, called “The Hellfire Club”. Get excited by revisiting the best scenes, full of 80s nostalgia and stream the full episode on Netflix.

Now rewind and repeat!
